Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Pennywise on devices you own or control, for your own record-keeping.

You may not resell, rent or redistribute the app, nor decompile or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly permits it regardless of this clause.

What Pennywise is — and is not

Pennywise is a tool for recording money you have already spent, received or lent. It arranges what you enter and reports it back to you.

It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing it displays should be treated as such. Its figures are only as accurate as what you typed in. Before acting on anything with real consequences — filing a return, settling a debt, making an investment — check the underlying records and, where it matters, speak to someone qualified.

Pennywise does not connect to your bank, does not move money, and cannot make a payment on your behalf.

Your data is your responsibility

This is the clause worth reading twice. Because your records live on your device and nowhere else, they are lost with the device unless you have a backup.

• If your phone is lost, broken, wiped or replaced and you have no backup, the data is gone. We hold no copy and cannot restore it.
• Uninstalling the app deletes its data. Reinstalling does not bring it back.
• Restoring a backup replaces everything currently in the app. It does not merge, and it cannot be undone.
• Using Pennywise on two devices with the same Drive account means the most recent backup overwrites the previous one. Drive backup is a backup, not a sync.

Please keep a backup — a .pennywise file somewhere safe, Drive backup switched on, or both.

Google Drive

Drive backup is optional. If you use it, your relationship with Google for the storage of that file is between you and Google, on their terms.

We cannot guarantee the availability of Google's service, and we are not responsible for a backup that fails or is delayed because Drive was unreachable, permission was withdrawn, or the account ran out of space.

On iPhone in particular, a scheduled background backup runs when iOS decides to allow it, which may be considerably later than the interval you chose. Opening the app also takes a backup when one is due. We do not promise a backup at any fixed time.

Acceptable use

Use Pennywise lawfully. Do not use it to record or further activity that is illegal, and do not attempt to disrupt or interfere with the app or with any service it connects to.

Updates and availability

We may change, add or remove features in future versions, and may stop distributing the app. Where a change alters how your existing records are handled, we will do our best to carry them forward.

Updates are delivered through Google Play and the App Store, on their terms and timing.

No warranty

Pennywise is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will suit any particular purpose of yours.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, nor for lost data, lost profits or lost savings, arising from your use of or inability to use Pennywise.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Gujarat, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
